Ties That Bind Movie Review


Ties That Bind - an amazing film!
I write this review after watching this film for the second time. The first time I watched it was at the TransAfrica Forum film festival in Washington, DC in 2012. I left the theatre with a feeling of having a connection with the characters portrayed. I remember everyone coming out with expressions of amazement on their faces. Some were speechless. This is a movie, an "African" movie that embraces differences in class, background, religious/spiritual orientation, and tradition with a keen sense of purpose, that one cannot help but anticipate what the next conflict will be. The movie portrayed in my view, a realistic picture of the lives of everyday women and the issues of womanhood that they confront. Although set in Ghana, it is really portraying a universal story, as each woman is bound by certain circumstances, but eventually comes to a place of healing. These strong characters, including the neighbor who has to eventually unleash her wrath on her husband, are woman...

interesting movie
i watched this on a sunday afternoon and fell in love with the characters. the story line was deep and the women were amazing.
