Rabbit Fever

At last, a movie about us rabbit people!
Recently I finally got the opportunity to watch the movie Rabbit Fever. And you know what? I'm glad I did.

Created by Amy Do, Rabbit Fever is a full-length documentary about the rabbit showing hobby. It focuses on the ARBA Youth Royalty contest, following five young rabbit breeders in their quests to become the ARBA King or Queen. We've been hearing about the production of this movie for years, and now it's finally available via DVD and streaming at RabbitFever.com. Amy gave about ten years and most of the resources she had - including funds she had intended to put toward a house - to producing this film, and I'm glad to be able to thank her for that effort.

Like the "stars" in the movie, competing in ARBA Royalty Contests was the focus of my teenage years. In fact, the kids featured in the movie were my role models. They were in the age group just above me, and so were the very people that I held in high respect.

So for a long time I didn't want to...

This was very entertaining
I'm a big fan of documentaries. Particularly ones that are both interesting and entertaining. And "Rabbit Fever" was up there with the best of them. It takes us into a world most of us never knew existed, and it introduces us to people who we might consider to be fanatics under any other circumstance. I'd rate this film right up there with "Word Wars" and "Dumbstruck". If you liked those films, you'll probably like "Rabbit Fever".

Finally a documentary about showing rabbits!
I waited and waited to be able to see this documentary, for about 1 1/2 years actually! It was about time someone created a documentary about showing rabbits. It was informative and showed the rabbit showing from all different perspectives (ie: youth, adults, professionals, as well as the newbies). I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get into showing their rabbits because it is not as easy as it looks and this documentary shows how much work is involved in doing so! A++++

An American Werewolf in London

The greatest Werewolf film ever!
1981 was The Year of the Werewolves...the furry fiends leaped onto movie screens in three major films: "The Howling," "Wolfen," and the classic of the genre, "An American Werewolf in London." There has never been a greater werewolf film, there has never been a better transformation scene, and few horror movies can match the entertaining mixture of humor and scares that writer/direction John Landis ("Animal House," "The Blues Brothers") achieved here.

Although there had been humor in horror films before this movie, "An American Werewolf in London" showed once and for all that having comedy in a horror film didn't mean that the film would lose out in the scare department. Landis makes it clear that the film is NOT a comedy -- the horror scenes are carried with dead-seriousness and shocking impact -- but there is so much quirky humor surrounding these scenes that the film becomes incredibly likable and buoyant. Most of the...

"Beware the Moon" AWIL Blu-review
An American Werewolf in London is probably the best Werewolf flick since Lon Chaney Jr originally transformed under the full moon. Sure, the film is almost 30 years old, but with the new high def transfer it's hard to tell.

As an avid DVD buyer my transition to the Blu-ray media has been a little slow to say the least. I'm generally only buying new titles and am very stubborn when it comes to double dipping on titles I already own. Some companies take the cheap route and just slap an upscaled transfer onto a Blu-ray in order to make some fast cash. This however, is completely worth re buying.

I'll be honest, the first time I saw this film was when it was originally released on DVD back in the late 90's . I instantly fell in love with the movie. Everything about it was perfect, the humor, the scares, the sfx, the amazing soundtrack. It's very rare to find a movie that so perfectly combines horror and comedy, a film with characters you truly care for. This...

ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOVIES EVER MADE!!!
This is one of the few movies that have consistently given me nightmares since I was a child. It is at least a decade ahead of its time. Most of the negative criticisms that I have read use the word "uneven" a lot. Even Roger Ebert, whom I admire, claimed that the humor and the horror were an uneasy mix. This was years before he gave the movie Scream a positive review. Now I LIKE the movie Scream, but there is no way that one can claim that it gets the balance right whereas Werewolf gets it wrong. Scream simply benefits from occurring in the cynical nineties - Werewolf suffers from being avant guard. .

The new DVD has a few good extras on it - especially a new interview with Landis. Even after all these years, the film still holds up. Unlike most films, I see more things in it the more I look. What, for instance, is up with the townsfolk of East Proctor and what is their relationship with the original werewolf? My guess - they brought it on themselves somehow. Maybe one...

Shifty [HD]

A Genuinely Solid View of the Drug Life in Ordinary Places
This little gritty film, written and directed by Eran Creevy, is being cleverly marketed for release in the US by Breaking Glass Pictures as a prescription form for drugs and nothing could be more appropriate for a film that examines the intricate manner drugs such as cocaine, crack, etc have on little sectors of England: here, instead of London, the story is set in a seedy East London/Essex border country where drugs seem to affect everyone in one way or the other.

A bright, well-schooled Muslim lad named Shifty (Riz Ahmed, in a very fine performance) who lives with his straight mature brother Rez (Nitin Ganatra) who only tries to keep his Muslim family together. Shifty is a young crack cocaine dealer with a regular clientele - a addicted building site worker Trevor (Jay Simpson) married to a disillusioned wife (who thought he had given up drugs) with three kids, a crack smoking old lady Valerie (Francesca Annis) in her familiar looking flat, framed photograph of a...

Coexist
I found this movie by accident.I was surfing the web looking for a British Indie, and i came across this film and it was not releasted yet on DVD nor ever showed here in the STATES.Finally it came out on dvd but not in U.S. or Canada format.Out of the blue, i deceided to look for this movie again but this time on AMAZON.com. Bam! it's here. Some other film company pick it up.Now i have it and i love it.That's one of the reason why i shop Amazon.

Gritty crime drama
I knew very little about the British crime film Shifty prior to seeing it. My interest was certainly piqued when a screener arrived in the mail in the form of a Ziplock bag with a pretty neat looking prescription label stuck to the front. It became pretty obvious this was a drug-themed movie, which that in itself usually wouldn't be my type of flick, but I gotta say the effort in the marketing made it much more exciting.

The films starts of with Chris (Daniel Mays) showing up on the doorstep of Shifty (Riz Ahmed), a small town crack dealer. The two reveal to be old friends, but it's clear from the beginning that they have some issues from their past and Chris has been gone for some time. Shifty, who lives with his older brother, invites Chris to stay with them and goes about his usual dealings with Chris tagging along.

We're introduced to a crime underworld that runs deep in the small town. We're introduced to a diverse range of characters including a family man...

Endless Love

Sometimes you gotta dig a little deeper...
to understand a much misunderstood movie! Endless Love is one such movie. So what brought me to this conclusion? Viewing it three times in a row and finally "getting it." You see, when I read reviews depicting this movie as a world-class disaster I was surprised, seeing as how Franco Zeferelli directed it. It couldn't possibly be that bad, I thought to myself...so I rented it. To be honest, the first time I watched it I was a little disappointed. Although the cinematography was excellent, I noticed far too much "choppiness" and little editing errors here and there. I was also a bit uncomfortable with the way the storyline was headed, partly because I had my own preconceived notions and felt "set up" for something different than what I was seeing. As one reviewer put it, "Endless Obsession" would have been a more suitable title, or so I thought at the time. When the movie ended I felt a little uneasy, like I had just missed something big. So what did I do? I rewound the thing and began...

ONE OF THE BEST ROMANTIC MOVIES OF THE 80'S
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST LOVE MOVIES OF THE 80'S, MUCH LIKE A SOAP OPERA AND BROOKE SHIELDS AT HER BEST. MOREOVER IT WAS THE FIRST MOVIE WHERE TOM CRUISE MADE A CAMEO APPEARANCE AND ALSO THE FIRST MOVIE FOR JAMES SPADER. THE SOUNDTRACK WAS SUPERB... A STORY ABOUT TEENAGE LOVE AND HOW PARENTS CAN SPLIT TEENAGE COUPLES AND MAKE THEIR SON'S LIFE MISERABLE. I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND I JUST HOPE IT IS RELEASED ON DVD BEFORE WE ARE TOO OLD TO WATCH AND ENJOY IT....

Anamorphic Widescreen
This imported DVD has a nice picture. It comes in the original aspect ratio of approximately 1:85 anamorphic widescreen. The audio is in Dolby Digital Mono and has Korean, Spanish, English and Italian subtittles. Buy it while you can because this movie is not available in DVD in the United States.

Nina Conti: Her Master's Voice [HD]

"Problems of the Self" Examined by Artificial Others
While my ventriloquism-loving friends either laughed at the crudeness of Jeff Dunham or sang along with Terry Fator, I found myself pursuing the sheer quirkiness that is Nina Conti. Despite having released at least three shows on DVD, being featured in a Christopher Guest film, and being a regular both at comedy shows and in Youtube clips, true fame has eluded Conti, though I'm hopeful that her first solo film project here will give her greater North American recognition. As is her style, Conti uses her documentary to balance spontaneous humor and genuine human emotion for a sometimes-uncomfortable, always-entertaining tribute to her deceased mentor and spiritual center of the piece, theater maverick Ken Campbell.

The gist of the "story" here is that Conti,...

HER MASTER'S VOICE Is A Brilliant Exploration of Life to the Fullest
I'll admit that I've always had a bookish interest in ventriloquism. It's not that I've ever wanted to give it a go - my failure to walk and chew gum at the same time practically insures I'd be nothing short of inept at manipulating a puppet, making it speak, and not moving my lips. Rather, I've always had an interest in acting. Ventriloquists master the unique challenge of creating not one but sometimes many personalities - the artist and the various dolls - and imbuing all of it with charm, wit, and performance grace. As someone who, in his youth, did some minor theatre productions, that's no easy task to do once; can you imagine having to do it simultaneously?

HER MASTER'S VOICE AND THE LEGACY OF SIX BEREAVED PUPPETS is a brilliant mockumentary entirely of Nina's design. When we join her, we find out that she's begun questioning herself and her career choice. At the onset, she's decided that, perhaps, it's time to hang up the puppets, put ventriloquism behind her,...

Different but acceptable
This was different than what I was expecting. It doesn't have the standard emphasis on humor, but it was still interesting. If you are just looking for laughs this isn't for you, but if you love the "vent" industry and the people in it than it's worth your time.

Sexual Chronicles of a French Family

Highly edited! Good Movie, but not Amazon version
It was a waste of money to rent this from Amazon. They don't tell you ahead of time this is a highly edited version.

If you love life, you love sex.
This is a beautiful film that looks sex right in the face! The French are fortunate in that they missed the
Influence of Queen Victoria; they are not afraid of the human body and the fact that sex is the key to
a healthy life.
In this film we see three generations of one family- the joys and problems in each generation.
The film is explicit, but not pornograghic.
An American film maker could never have made this film.

Censored version
The movie is available online via other carriers and there the dreaded phallus is allowed into the light. The version available via Amazon has been censored, an odd thing to do to an erotic movie. The original is sensitive, sometimes silly, sometimes hot indeed. I hate being treated like a child by a major corporation, don't you?

Bonnie & Clyde Vs. Dracula

It's Got a Great Title and a Really Cool DVD Cover
Genre crossovers are nothing new, but with the massive literary success of the novel PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, they're everywhere now and are an entire sub-genre in and of themselves. I like the idea of a crossover. I always enjoyed it as a kid when two or three tv shows would meet up for an episode or a two and would sometimes think of tv shows that would have been neat to see together-how cool would it have been if Magnum P.I. would have visited the mainland and got involved with the A-Team? Therefore, I picked up BONNIE & CLYDE VS. DRACULA just for the title alone. I kept thinking, it would be great to see a couple of gangsters take on the vampire king.

In the movie, Bonnie & Clyde are on the lamb after a bank robbery gone wrong. They are in need of a new car, a hideout, and a way to make some quick cash to get on their feet again. Clyde leads them to an "inn" of disreputable repute in the middle of nowhere where a friend of his is supposed to meet them with...

Better than expected
Let's be clear. This isn't a vampire movie or a Dracula movie. It's a Bonnie & Clyde movie with an appearance by Dracula. If you're looking for a vampire movie (as I was), get over it. The point is, it's a pretty good Bonnie & Clyde movie and also a pretty good mad scientist movie. The acting is decent considering the no-name cast. The story has some interesting twists. What more could you ask for? I knocked off one star because the ending was weak.

It's awful and boring.
Don't waste your time, or your money, on this film unless you are a total Bonnie & Clyde completest, Dracula completest, so and so vs. so and so completest, etc. Yes, the young woman the plays Bonnie is a total hottie; perhaps the film's only redeeming factor, but not worth the price. It's just plain stupid. Personally, I'd like to get a refund, but the seller was not at fault. I'm going to sell it here - "Like New-viewed once and once only!"

Lemon [HD]

The sweetest lemon..
The first time I watched this documentary was at the HBO Latin film festival. I sat next to my cousin which people usually avoid because she never shuts up during movies. For the first time EVER she was completely mute. I had to look over at her a couple of times through out the film to make sure she was breathing. Lemon was that great! Watch this documentary! The entire film takes you on a journey that kinda creeps up on your soul. It is so much more than a mans struggle. Lemon is a poet whose true words will flow through your blood. This documentary is universal and changed my world forever!

Powerful, Real, Poetic
I watched this film in Carbondale, CO during the Aspen Film Festival s few weeks ago. Since then, I've watched several YouTube videos of Lemon reciting his poems. Why? Because its powerful stuff. It's real, often gritty, and always inspirational. This is a film that will stick with you. Watch it!

the Beautiful Struggle
Lemon speaks for the masses of youth who grew up hard and have struggled to challenge themselves to break the cycle of poverty and become something more than the generations before them. He digs deep into his dark past to reveal what he calls "the beautiful struggle" and the challenges that face those of us who have murky pasts as we push forward to pave new paths for ourselves and future generations.

With his spoken word artistry Lemon has created a language that speaks to this underserved populace in a way that no one has done before.

Through his failures and successes the viewer takes the emotional journey that is sometimes painful, often beautiful, and all too relatable for anyone who has struggled to leave the past behind them. He proves that all dreams can be possible through hard work and dedication.

The surprising twists and turns of Lemon's life story will have you rooting for this underdog who brings hope to anyone who has ever felt trapped...

Marked Improvement Over Aunt Bam's House - 3

Sironia

Real Deal
As an artist, this film struck a realistic chord with me. It captured the descent into uncertainty uncomfortably well. The cinematography and mood was all beautifully done, too. Good stuff.

Great story, recommend!
I was pulled into this film by the great writing and acting. The cast did a fantastic job and the music was great. I related to the characters on so many levels and felt the wifes anguish and frustration portrayed as the story developed. I recommend this to all of my friends and family. It was refreshing to see a film filled with such talented actors that are not blockbuster movie actors, playing roles different from their "norm". The message portrayed, is one all kinds can relate to and the soundtrack was awesome too.

Sironia
I love this movie! Very relatable, Sironia depicts the life of a man with a family who is trying to figure everything out. Featuring great music, this movie was entertaining from beginning to end. Wes Cunningham was awesome as the lead, and he's an amazing singer! Really enjoyed this movie!

The Brothers McMullen

Pleasant.
This is a pleasant film about problems concerning love. There are three brothers who run into difficulties that they have to solve. My favourite is the second oldest brother. Barry has seen how his mother had to struggle for years with a man that she did not love. After Barry's father is dead, Barry's mother is finally able to marry the man she has always loved.
Barry's reaction to his mother's fate and also to his own relationship with his father, makes Barry afraid to form a steady relationship with the woman of his dreams.

This film touches important issues like love, committment and religion. There were many funny scenes in this film too, so it was good to sit down and watch it.

If You Grew Up Irish-Catholic, You Will Be Intrigued
The Brothers McMullen is supposed to be about what it's like having grown up Irish-Catholic in America, which, in the context of this movie, is supposed to be about being sexually repressed. It's an outstanding movie that everyone should see.
The movie is about the relationship of three brothers to the women in their lives and to each other. I must warn you, this is a serious romantic comedy-there's no severed limbs, exploding buildings, or sensational car wrecks. It's a quiet movie with no action. It's also a movie you can watch more than once and still be equally engrossed.

The oldest brother is a high school basketball coach, but, oddly, he's very non-jock like. He's somewhat sensitive and a little thoughtful for crying out loud! And he doesn't drink enough beer for a coach. He is friends with another woman who has the serious hots for him, but he keeps turning her down out of respect for his marriage.

Middle brother was engaged to a Jewish girl, but it broke up...

A great story
I love Ed Burns and I thought this film was good (I do like "She's the One" better) It's about 3 brothers, their lives and the reprocussions of growing up in a Catholic Irish American household in New York city.

Redneck Roots

Original and Hilarious -- Fantastic Movie!!
This is such a unique and original take on the "southern romantic comedy." It succeeds in portraying authentic "redneck" characters and southern atmosphere, while still remaining relatable and hilarious to everyone that watches it. The talented cast shine throughout the movie and will have you crying with laughter. Watching Redneck Roots is an experience that everyone in the family will enjoy!

Southern fried fun
A genuine and lighthearted movie! You don't have to be from the south to relate to Crystal Lynn's crazy family.
Grandma Lee had me in tears from laughing.
What I loved the most as a southern watching this movie was the details that really made it feel like my home town. The awful dresses at church, the hidden moonshine, the grandma's smoking virginia slims, the BOJANGLES!
Super cute and heartwarming movie!

Wet Your Pants Comedy Film Festival award winner!
"Redneck Roots" is a fantastically funny film that was a huge hit at the 2012 Wet Your Pants Comedy Film Festival. We were honored to award them the Steve Pearce Memorial Award, an award created to honor the memory of our festival's inspiration. Each and every character in this film is unforgettable with some of the greatest personality quirks we've seen. Jeff Hamrick as Darell Pigg steals the show as a radio disc jockey with tourettes and other issues. Carol Anne Watts is fantastic in her role as Amber Jo. We HIGHLY recommend this film.

Beer & Seed

Great Indie Film
I don't really get the chance to watch many movies due to work commitments but I have to say I'm glad I watched this indie gem. I thought it was really funny and I was impressed by the performances in the film. For me, this film was fresh and unique, which has restored my faith in indie films!

Great Comedy that my Son's and I all enjoyed
BEER & SEED was just funny. This is one of those films that fits for multiple generations. Crazy at it might seem, there is real genius here - fresh and done from a new perspective. "I Love the Fat Chicks" animated piece was classic. Well worth a look!

Really enjoyable and very funny!
I really enjoyed this film, the performances were great and there were some really funny parts. While it was funny, I also thought it was quite edgy and because of this it stands out from the crowd for me. Definitely worth watching!

Psychosexual Surgical Fantasies
What a wonderfully twisted, dark, demented little flick. I watched a rental of it, but now I WILL be buying my own copy for my movie collection. The psychosexual surgical fantasy sequences are bloody, brutal, graphic, and completely over-the-top. I actually sat up and said, "Whaaat?......" Filled my little black heart with glee and made it excitedly skip a couple of beats, and that rarely happens anymore. Bravo!

well crafted but hard to recommend to most people.
*spoiler free

This movie is a harsh juxtaposition of violent disturbing scenes and quirky comedy. It is well made and well acted. The violent scenes are very disturbing and surreal. They even made me cringe at times, and I love horror. The violent parts are often (not always) very unique and slick. The movie is constantly lowering your guard through the main story and then abruptly throwing some crazy violent fantasy scene at you. I really liked the main actress and how she portrayed the character as maladjusted but not stupid. In the end I really felt that the movie had merit despite being difficult to watch at times. I think it will just depend on your sense of humor and tolerance for violent imagery.

NEW TURN ON THE TROUBLED TEEN
A generation of film makers has been influenced by David Lynch, a director with and artistic touch whose movies were always interesting and always quirky. Unfortunately that same generation missed out on the artistic side and has clung to the quirkiness of his films offering movies that while weird aren't usually entertaining. Until the final moments of EXCISION, that's the case here.

Anna Lynne McCord stars as Pauline, a disillusioned teen who dreams of being a surgeon one day but who has no plans of following what it takes to get there. She refuses to study, does everything in her power to make herself the outsider in her school and for the most part is just plain disagreeable. Pauline is what teens appear to be these days, a young person who dreams of glory and expects it to just happen.

Pauline's mother is completely different. Phyllis (Traci Lords) is a prim and proper home maker. Not quite June Cleaver, but she plans out her dinners, expects her children to...

One California Day

Cali Nostalgia At It's Finest
I grew up surfing California and there are a number of things about the state that I miss. This movie captures the key elements of why I love the CA coastal lifestyle. Nostalgic without being sappy, looking back at the past while at the same time embracing the challenges beach-goers face today. Awesome. The movie is broken up by region (which fits with how I think of the state anyway,) with personality segments from each region. Skip Frye, Joel Tudor, Curren(Tom, Joe) the Ubiquitous Malloy brothers segment etc...

Although I surf and love the film, it seems like the movie was put together for surfers & non-surfers alike. If you liked Single Fin Yellow, Siestas & Olas or even Endless Summer, you'll love this flick.

Good job guys...

Longboard delight
A great surfing movie with outstanding photography at some of the best surfing spots in California with some of the best longboarders. The clip of Dale Velzy's funeral is worth the price of the movie. All the legend's are there. Pretty moving. A+

Classic
This has quickly become one of my favorite surf videos - along with Searching for Tom Curren and Surfing for Life, it's inspiring, without just showing a bunch of pros on perfect waves in exotic locations. It shows the California I love and the surfing spirit I love.

Godforsaken [HD]

Godforsaken
This is a dark movie, well acted, and almost hard to figure out on first watching, unless you pay close attention to the story line. However, it is worth a second look. It's the story of a fallen angel, who seeks redemption after the death of a child he was assigned to protect. There are a number of twists and it has a surprise ending. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Since the actors did a fine job, I'll over-look a few things that'll be distasteful to the "angel loving" crowd.
I live in Germany. This movie was filmed in England and France. Hence the paraphrased school rhyme:

"I've seen London,
I've seen France,
I saw an angel with NO underpants!"

The back of the DVD case says "WARNING! THIS FILM CONTAINS SCENES OF BRIEF not SO brief NUDITY,
ADULT "AC/DC-action" SITUATIONS, LANGUAGE f'-BOMBS, AND VIOLENCE adult & baby killings."

I have to admit, while this WAS NOT the faith-based film I was expecting, it was --- at least --- thought-provoking.
If you decide to watch this film I have to tell you --- without any spoilers --- the following:

===> There ARE different KINDS of angels. There are TWO in this film.
===> There is a scene of a male angel kissing a Catholic priest.
===> A [human] woman has graphic (not brief) sex with a down-on-his-luck(and back) angel.
===> There are SEVERAL graphic murders in this film.
===> You MIGHT have to watch it TWICE to fully understand...

Not What I Expected
For some reason I thought this was a faith-based movie. It's not. And on top of that, it was pretty awful. Not your fault however. You don't make movies. You just ensure we can choose from a humungous variety and for that I am grateful. Note to all: (1) Do not be fooled by the title (even the info provided tends to throw you off); (2) this movies contains both is sexual content and violence; and (3) the acting is terrible. I cannot believe I even allowed one star.

The American Scream [HD]

Very fun if you love Halloween.
All except for one guy in the film, I really, really enjoyed it. There is one guy who just takes the fun out of Halloween, and you will see what I mean if you rent this. Its ok to love Halloween, I love it and keep some of my indoor Halloween props up all year in m y house lol. But the guy Victor in this film looks at Halloween the wrong way in my opinion. He takes it to serious, and takes all the fun out if it. If I re watch this and Im sure I will lol I will honestly skip past all the parts that he is in, because he just takes the fun out of the film.

Other then that the other guys in this are GREAT !!!!! they are down to earth, and just a lot of fun to watch them setup their Halloween displays. So if you love Halloween, and you are a home haunter, I know you will enjoy this. I wish it was out on dvd to buy.

So except for the one guy in it, its awesome. Would of gave it 5 stars, had to give 4 because of him. But its worth watching for sure.

A Good Film But Disturbing...
I thought the filmmakers did a fine job making the film, so I'll give it 5 stars. But I say it's disturbing only because the film does a good job showing obsession. Now, I LOVE Halloween, and have made various props over the years and enjoyed spending time making them. But there's love and then there's unhealthy obsession. To see how his [one of the three haunters in the film] Halloween obsession negatively affects his children is actually heartbreaking. His daughter is asking to have some of this time, any time, and he totally ignores her. I found myself embarrassed for him, thinking he was not portrayed very sympathetically. And I was also embarrassed for the father/son haunters, who's props were very lame. Again, the filmmakers did a fine job with the film, and of providing us with a window into obsession and its negative effects on everyone involved.

Recognition is wonderful, but missed opportunities abound
I am a home haunter of the type featured in this documentary, and as such, I enjoyed being swept up in a wave of "Gee whiz, Someone Out There created a documentary about Us! Woo hoo!" If you are also a home haunter, then please skip the rest of this review and rent the movie immediately.

Most other viewers will probably find watching to be a worthwhile experience, although odds are it will feel familiar even to those whose idea of Halloween decorating consists of setting out a pumpkin on the porch. Nothing you see here will challenge your expectations, and the film suffers from a narrow focus that strips away most of the richness and unexpected delights provided by this quirky hobby.

The framework is wearily familiar: male head of household overcompensating for an emotional challenge is crazily overinvolved with his passion and is supported by his long-suffering spouse and kids who sacrifice to 'stand by their man.' Members of almost any hobby can be found who...

Last Will. & Testament [HD]

An Artistic and Documentary Triumph
Regarding 'Last Will. and Testament', my compliments to the directors/producers/cinematographers.

In addition to what others have said, I think it should get into print somewhere that this film has rare artistic power and integrity to go along with a compelling historical analysis on a critical cultural subject. The flow and tension of the viewing experience make it aesthetically enjoyable. The photography has an eerie quality of rich visual depth that invites the viewer back in time for a moment.

Would like to see the uncut version. There seems to be much more to tell, and I have the idea that the 'Shakespeare' mystery veils some dangerous historical events, relationships, and tragedies. Otherwise there would have been no reason for the Stratford bamboozle in the first place.

A cogent display of evidence on who wrote Shakespeare
This is a well researched and organized documentary regarding who really wrote the Shakespeare works. The producers interview English professors, theater professionals and historians about what is known about William Shaksper of Stratford on Avon - and why his case for authorship is so weak. They also present a powerful circumstantial case for the 17th Earl of Oxford as the true author, based upon detailed parallels between his biography and the plots of the plays; other parallels in language and thought between his private letters and the metaphors and ideas displayed in the dramas and sonnets; and more. All in all, a sober-minded analysis of the authorship issue - and a compelling solution.

Very well done
THe background to the story portrayed in the movie Anonymous. Much more compelling and reasonable than I had previously imagined - I thought most of these Shakespeare Deniers were cranks but I have a very different opinion now. Really lots of fun!

Terrible transfer - product should be dropped
The film is a low budget production, but about what you would expect... I wasn't particularly impressed with the script or the production values, but overall, acceptable. The problem is the DVD transfer. It may be the worst I have ever seen. Reel changes remain visible, the color is washed out, and the audio becomes garbled to the point where one can barely follow the plot in the last scenes of the film. Amazon should drop this product until the distributors remaster the DVD.

It was reminiscent of another insightful film Super Size Me; but instead of experimenting with junk food, the filmmakers experimented with healthy food on a food stamp budget (which is shamefully low). There are many factors that encourage the unhealthy habit of consuming high sugar and high fat diets, such as subsidies for junk food, food "deserts" where healthy food is hard to find, and hundreds of millions of dollars of marketing from the junk food industry. While the problem of obesity crosses class lines, it is especially profound among the poor. Oftentimes, shopping at an organic food store is out of reach on a limited budget, and fresh produce and farmers markets can be hard to find in impoverished areas; so, a film like "Food Stamped" that focuses on the circumstance of poverty has been desperately needed.
In addition to their own helpful tips about how to...

Informative but a little too optimistic
Yes this film was informative and I wouldn't tell people not to watch it. Just to take it with a grain of salt. The filmmakers decided to go on the "food stamps diet" where they could only spend about $1 per person per meal. They vowed to only eat healthy, organic food during this week. The continually ignored difficulties faced by those on food stamps by doing things such as taking herbs from their herb garden (many of the people on food stamps don't even have a home). They also did not take into account that most people do not have their kind of background on cooking organically and would never be able to make the sorts of meals that they made...especially if they are homeless with no real kitchen. While the filmmakers tried to do something good, their lightheartedness as well a their optimism that everyone can eat well on a food stamp diet was off-putting.

Touching and Informative
I appreciated the information and facts provided in the movie and that they put a face to those who are faced with living in these conditions. I would highly recommend watching this movie to get a perspective of those faced with economic limitations and issues related to institutionalized classism. Granted the film-makers themselves living on a food-stamp diet did have handy access to herbs in the backyard, free day-old bread from a breadery, produce at a food bank, and free samples at stores. I don't know if these scenarios are often available in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, especially when grocery stores may not even be available. Despite this, it was nice that the filmmakers featured organizations that did do things differently, like being able to exchange food stamps for a card to use at a farmer's market. I really enjoyed the piece on nutrition in the schools, and how locally grown food can feed a large urban school district. They also included a program about...

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines [HD]

Wrong Turn 5 - A Mixed Bag
I have all of this franchise on DVD and now in Blu-ray and have been somewhat of a fan. Here's what I noticed after the first viewing:

Story:
It's never made clear the time frame of this movie. WT4 was a prequel. After some long thought on this, I believe this is supposed to be after 4 and before 1. All 3 of these mutants are alive and well, so it doesn't make sense that this would be a continuation from 3.
There is a reference from the older man Maynard that they aren't in an institution any longer. Maynard also refers to the 3 hillbilly freaks as "my boys." I never took him seriously, but after some consideration, maybe this man was really supposed to be their father. We don't know where this man came from or how he got hooked up with these 3. We just know that he ran into them at some point. We do see a computer screen at one point that would indicate that it is 2003, which would put this just months or even weeks before the original Wrong Turn.
The story...

Wrong Turn 5
I liked the movie. Nothing really new from the others, although the back story is a little different. If you are in to the Wrong Turn movies I think you will like this one also.

Great Film if you like the series
This film really helped me like number 4 a lot more.. Number 4 was so different I couldn't even imagine how it was a prequel to the rest.. This movie ties the forth installment of this film into the first 3 a lot better.. Maynard (The old man from the first two) is back and the main character of this film.. Maynard is what ties this with the rest of the films!

Wrong Turn has made a big change since the first movie. I really liked the "backwoods" "wrong turn" feel in the first few movies of the series.. That feel hasn't been present in the last two which makes them a lot less scary imo.. This movie is still great though! I would recommend if you are a fan of the series

Gut

Gut
Tom's life begins to spiral out of control when his buddy Dan brings home a suspicious snuff tape that he found online. Will the two be able to break away from their sick obsessions before they are tempted to turn a dark fantasy into reality? So begins GUT, a tightly-drawn psychological thriller that overcomes its minuscule budget with an intriguing pair of characters and constant feelings of dread and paranoia. Director Elias takes his time in introducing Tom and Dan in order to build upon their friendship in a real-world setting. Only then does he begin chip away at their masks of sanity, slowly revealing their twisted desires and inability to relate with those around them. While the snuff film becomes the point of their fixation, the universal themes of obsession and moral corruption could easily be interchanged for any other vices without losing their impact. The shockingly realistic special effects only add an intensified element of horror on top of the growing terror and...

Brilliant slow burn suspense thriller...
A brilliant film that will keep you on your toes until the very end. Beautifully shot in addition to superb acting on the part of Jason Vail and Nicholas Wilder.. ;)

Got Gut?
As a lover and fan of all things indie/underground horror let me just say that Gut is one of those indie productions that just wowed me. I have seen many, many and for most the acting especially is sub par or just plain terrible. It's usually made up for with the writing and what not but not in this film. Gut rose to the occasion and threw out some damn good performances by everyone involved most notably Jason Vail. The writing, the directing by Elias was just a breath of fresh air to say the least. Loved the camera shots in this one...it was a nightmare come true I will be searching out all this man does.

Steve Howe - Remedy Live

Steve Howe's Remedy -- Just What the Doctor Ordered
Steve Howe is one of the most versatile and tasteful guitarists of our time. Instantly recognizable, Howe's signature sound (particularly his work with the band Yes)took the rock guitar to a whole new level in the 70s. On this DVD, Howe demonstrates his prodigous talent on a diverse sampling from his long career. There are a few choice tracks from his Yes years, many overlooked gems from his solo outings, and some fine acoustic tracks too. A great find for anyone who appreciates a consumate guitarist/musician at the top of their game.

Reviewed by Scott O'Reilly author "Yes and Philosophy."

A true talent
Steve never ceases to amaze me. His expertise on the strings is awesome. The sound and camera work on this video is great. The songs are inspiring and he has family members along for the ride.

Boring
I am never ceased to be amazed at how that people who have made some of the most innovative, creative rock can also make some of the most milquetoast, boring tripe in their projects outside of Yes. This especially holds true for Mr. Howe (don't even get me started on the monstrosity of Asia). Some of Howe's earlier solo endeavors from the 70's in this, from his first two albums and a Yes medley do have a bit of the spark that makes him so awesome, and those are the highlights here, but most of this sounds pretty aimless and plodding. It's not surprising... a lot of Howe's later work is often based upon some incredibly generic and bland rock background stylings, and that is well on display here. Hardly "progressive" in any metric. The bassist even looks bored, at times. I'd be, too.

His band, including his two sons on keys and drums, is surely competent, and his drummer son, Dylan, has some serious chops, but, again, they're not given exciting material to work with...

Saving Grace: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Not enough dialogue with the rest of the cast
I loved this series. I love Holly Hunter. I watched every episode from the beginning. What I was expecting from this gathering was a lot of interaction with ALL members of the cast. After about 30 minutes, I had to stop watching. The moderator spends most of the time talking with the creator of Saving Grace. There is some interaction with Holly Hunter. There is maybe one question to each member of the cast. I love Kenneth Johnson and Bailey Chase. As of 30 minutes in, they had both spoken once. This must have been the moderator's first time at moderating.

I was disappointed.

Interesting but disappointing
Show is dominated by comments from Holly and Nancy. All other say nothing or virtually nothing. The "moderator" from Variety is an idiot. A 5 year old could come up with better questions.

The Night Shift

mid quality indy
A mid quality independent film worth watching if you like this sort of thing. It's comedy and meant to be so. It's also a horror action flick. The Skeleton gave me the best laugh I've had in quite a while. It has a decent and interesting plot and sub plot. The acting is good enough from the main characters to not be annoying. There's some quality issues with blurryness and bad sound in a few spots but overall its fine. It's kinda longer than it needs to be but its entertaining enough when there's nothing else to do.

Surprising
I rented this movie from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised. In a way 'The Night Shift' reminded me of the 1996 Michael J. Fox film, 'The Frighteners.' It's basically a supernatural comedy set in a graveyard populated by various undead creatures. The pacing of the movie could be better; at a little over two hours in some parts, it does drag a little. However, this slow boil gives the film a chance to develop its lead characters and, in this respect, I think the writers and performers did a fine job. There are a couple of moments where the audio/video quality get a bit fuzzy, but these are fairly minor and don't detract from the film experience.
Overall, though, I thought 'The Night Shift' was a fun flick.

I tried to give it a shot
I have respect for low - no budget filmmakers but I just couldn't make it longer than 15 minutes through the movie the foley is bad and the acting is worse it just takes me out of the films universe. This could of been good but it couldn't keep me interested and at 2 hours and 7 minutes that's too long for a romantic horror comedy.

Dragon

A Warning to Film Enthusiasts
*This is not a review of the content of the film*

I thought it would be prudent to post this disclaimer on Amazon as it directly effected my decision to NOT buy this version of this movie.

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSION, but rather one that has been edited and shortened by the American Studio handling the domestic release.
Also, changes have been made to some of the music as well.

Now, I'm sure some people don't care about this sort of thing, and you who don't will get an acceptable movie if you decide to buy this. Personally I am a bit of a purist and get offended when some Suits who had nothing to do with making a movie suddenly start cutting bits out and generally messing it about.

If you've got the scratch to spend, you can get the undiluted Chinese release here: Wu Xia Blu-Ray (Region A) (English Subtitled) Donnie Yen

That is all, and may you get...

Great movie, but this is a bad DVD
This movie looks like Donnie's best since IP MAN 1 & 2. Think of it as a Chinese "History of Violence" but set 100 years ago, and with martial arts. Great acting and action. Donnie's acting ability has gotten very very good. I think he'll end up with a better catalogue of work than either Jackie Chan or Jet Li. Unfortunately this DVD was horrible. The picture is soft, lacks any sort of detail and contrast, and has lots of pixelation. The subtitle track is poorly translated and not timed correctly. I recommend this movie, but not this particular DVD.

Horrible quality DVD
Obviously downloaded from the internet and burned on a DVD. Subtitles don't make sense and are not timed correctly. The artwork is blurry. Look for a better version.

Entourage: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Entourage Inspiration
Entourage: Cast & Creators Live At The Paley Center is a 48 minute documentary that interviews the cast on real-life inspirations behind their show. I was curious to watch this due to my interest in tying the show into how it relates to real-life public relations. The great thing about this documentary is that all of the people interviewed are highly down to earth and throw humor into what inspired them with the show. They are also respectful with their audience members as well. One of the main points I indirectly gleaned from the show was that part of the real-life inspiration for the show came from certain publicists. Entourage: Cast & Creators Live At The Paley Show is a suitable documentary to watch for those who are interested in the area of PR, enjoyed any of the Entourage episodes, and/or are looking forward to seeing the upcoming "Entourage move."

The X-Files: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

X-Files at the Paleycenter
This was a once in a lifetime panel with the writers and directors behind the X-Files. The panel didn't feature Duchovney or Anderson, but it provides fans of the show with some behind the scenes stories behind the creation of the X-Files in addition to snippets on the Lone Gunmen and Millennium. Paleyfest panels are a terrific resource for show info. My only quibble is that the video seems to have been edited for time, meaning the panel jumps over certain segments. Any true fan of the show would want to see the uncut panel to glean as much about the show as possible. Still, it is a rare chance to view the minds behind "Home" and "Jose Chung's From Outer Space."

Ties that Bind

Ties That Bind Movie Review

Ties That Bind - an amazing film!
I write this review after watching this film for the second time. The first time I watched it was at the TransAfrica Forum film festival in Washington, DC in 2012. I left the theatre with a feeling of having a connection with the characters portrayed. I remember everyone coming out with expressions of amazement on their faces. Some were speechless. This is a movie, an "African" movie that embraces differences in class, background, religious/spiritual orientation, and tradition with a keen sense of purpose, that one cannot help but anticipate what the next conflict will be. The movie portrayed in my view, a realistic picture of the lives of everyday women and the issues of womanhood that they confront. Although set in Ghana, it is really portraying a universal story, as each woman is bound by certain circumstances, but eventually comes to a place of healing. These strong characters, including the neighbor who has to eventually unleash her wrath on her husband, are woman...

interesting movie
i watched this on a sunday afternoon and fell in love with the characters. the story line was deep and the women were amazing.

Justified: Elmore Leonard, Timothy Olyphant, and Graham Yost Live at the Paley Center

It's just not a good time
I've become a Justified addict. The show is smart, darkly funny, intense, and well-acted across the board. These folks actually get Elmore Leonard right. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he is credited as a producer of the show. I am also geeky enough to enjoy the occasional 'behind the scenes' show. So, when I saw this I jumped. I gave it a good try, I really did. But whatever energy Justified has is altogether missing here. Elmore Leonard looks ancient and tired. Timothy Olyphant looks bored out of his mind. Graham Yost is the only one with any life in him. The questions are on the lame side and a bit worshipful. Admittedly, Elmore Leonard is a living legend and Timothy Olyphant is both pretty and a fine actor. Still, there have to be more interesting questions and more engaged answers. My advice: stick with the show and just pretend you never heard of this 'behind the scenes' interview.

Love 'Justified' and Elmore Leonard
If you love the TV show, 'Justified' (and the Elmore Leonard stories that continue to inspire it), as much as I do, then this edition of "Live at the Paley Center" is for you. Author Elmore Leonard, Creator/Show Runner Graham Yost, and star of 'Justified' Timothy Olyphant are all on hand for an informative discussion of the show, how it came to be, how they continue to produce some of the best dialogue on television, and much more. They answer questions from both the moderator and the audience. It runs 60 minutes.

The respect, humility, and admiration held among these professionals is evident and sincere. Leonard is a pro, as are Yost and Olyphant; altogether, they make a phenomenal team. Having read 'Fire in the Hole' and 'Raylan' (available on Amazon), this tribute to the iconic 87-year-old author, Elmore Leonard ('Get Shorty,' 'Out of Sight,' and '3:10 to Yuma'), his stories (including the one about his impeccable work ethic) were something I enjoyed and appreciated...

Good Insight
Entertaining to see people involved with the show give background and interact. Worth a look if you are a Justified fan

The Vampire Diaries: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Great behind-the-scenes stuff with Nina Dobrev and others!
This show is so good and I'm officially obsessed with Nina Dobrev. Although I enjoy Vampire Diaries more than True Blood or Twilight, I always wondered if the show was taking their outside ideas and just adapting them...well, in this discussion Producer Kevin Williamson actually talks about how his show is NOT a knock-off!

Everyone in Vampire Diaries is gorgeous, so it was awesome to hear the cast discuss everything that goes in to vampire make up and sexy abs :) Now that I know just how much work goes into the make up, I don't feel quite as bad about myself! If you're a fan of the show at all, this DVD is a perfect supplement for those annoying days in-between episodes.

Great if you're a fan
I found the dvd really funny actually and as a fan of the vampire diaries it suited me perfectly. I was suprised about the fact that it didn't have a menu and just played by itself so maybe something to work on is have a menu with like extras or something like that. But overall, a great dvd interview with the cast and it only took like 14 days to get to Britain so I was please with that.

intersesting but unfocused a lot of the time
Many of the questions were well thought out. Many of the responses were wonderful and gratifying. But the producers allowed anyone to jump in at any time, and a couple of them did, drowning out the others' responses frequently. You barely get to hear Nina Dobrev at all.

The Closer: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

I am a Closer fan and was expecting a bit more from this DVD
It's ok but not great. It seems to be a victim of its own format. The way the cast are interviewed and the setting are a bit lacking. I was hoping to have learned more about 'behind the scenes'. It's also unfortunate that several of the actors did not participate. Good to see once.

Great PaleyFest DVD - interesting tidbits and hilarious moments
Watched this on Prime, and I liked it so much I'm buying the DVD as well. The cast pictured are all who participate - noticeable absences were J.K. Simmons, G.W. Bailey, and Corey Reynolds. I only started watching The Closer when Mary McDonnell began to guest star, so I'm biased to like this as she was on the panel. Overall, it was a balanced interview with a majority of the cast and Duff getting to participate. There were some VERY funny moments. All in all, you can't lose if you're a huge fan of The Closer or any of the actors/actresses from the cast.

GREAT to see them out of role

Fantastic breath of fresh air for spongebob fans !!
WOW!! I was so impressed by the show and just how good the characters made the leap to real life. This was such a needed jolt to

A magical transformation of an old favorite!
The stop-motion animation breathes new life into this franchise. You'll be amazed at how well the animators were able to capture these beloved characters in this format. There's also a sense of wonderment as they keep doing the stop-motion animation with each new character/locale in Bikini Bottom. This one is highly recommended!

Seth MacFarlane and Friends: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Seth McFarlane is Incredible in this DVD!
Seth McFarlane, you are so good at what you do! But thank you Paley Center for holding a panel discussion that isn't all about massaging his ego! The panelists share some really embarrassing (but funny!) stories about him that you won't find anywhere else. I think my favorite part of this DVD was discussion about Family Guy going on and off the air over the years. I've read a lot of articles about its cancellations, but getting the inside scoop from the producers themselves was fascinating, especially because you see it on screen vs. reading it in an article. There's so much more that goes into making a cartoon than I thought, especially ones that can be controversial like Family Guy and American Dad! Totally worth the cash.

Awesome`
I loved this but then again i love anything that Seth is involved in. I cracked up laughing the whole time that I was watching. Very Enjoyable!

Must see for fans of this groups work
Of all the Paley events with this same core of "characters" this was my favorite. Perhaps they have it down after the other shows for each of their various show. This panel or whatever we call it is more generic and broad spectrum. Some of the info has been covered previously yet somehow they find a way to add more details. The whole thing could have gone on for another hour or two and still felt too short.

Fringe: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

2009 Paley Center with Fringe Cast & Creators
Fantastic! Nearly an hour long. I enjoyed the cast members answering the thoughtful questions by the moderator. I also like hearing what was behind the Fringe concept from JJ, Robert and Alex. Great video!

Very disappointed in quality of film & questions / answers
I was very much interested in watching this DVD since I had purchased the one for Castle and enjoyed it very much.

There were 5 crew including J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, but only three actors: Anna Torv (Olivia Dunham), Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop), and John Noble (Dr. Walter Bishop). I would have liked to have seen Jasika Nicole (Astrid), Blair Brown (Nina Sharp)of whom they did speak, and Lance Reddick (Broyles). They mentioned Leonard Nimoy who would appear in future episodes but this was old news. It was interesting to hear Ms. Torv and Mr. Noble's Australian accents as I had never heard their real speaking voices before.

I wish there had been closed captioning /subtitles as I didn't get a lot of what was said - especially since some comments were in-jokes. The moderator, Ken Tucker, kept touching his (balding) head for some reason -- maybe he was nervous, but he works for Entertainment Weekly and should be used to interviewing...

Interesting follow up o series

Southland: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Southland best cop show ever.
This is an interview of the creators and several cast members of "S0UTHLAND", probably the best cop show on TV. The only one that comes close is "Police Story" done in the late 70's early 80's. Police story actually had Joseph Waumbaugh, a real cop as its creator. "Southland" had 2 of its creators at this interview and the most important one was missing. Ann Biderman. I really would like hear from her. I also would like to have heard how they used "street people" to play some of the parts. I became a fan in the last 2 seasons. However, I am going to make time to see he first 2 seasons.

Saving Grace: Holly Hunter Live at the Paley Center

Not boring at all, just too short...
I didn't find this boring at all, if anything it was too short (only 40 minutes) and not enough about Saving Grace. The interview was mostly audience (I assume film students) asking questions. I had read that Holly Hunter is an extremely private person and she says it herself in this interview; she keeps her private life completely private! So don't watch this if you want any tidbits of how she does things at home with her kids and husband.

The questions are not only about Saving Grace, there are several questions about other movies and shows she has been in. I watched all the episodes of Saving Grace and she is phenomenal (the show was ended WAY too soon)!! Now having watched this question and answer interview, I am even more interested in watching and re-watching other things she has done.

Quite Boring
I really like Holly Hunter and the show Saving Grace so I thought I would gain some insight. And I might have if I had watched the whole thing but it was sooo boring and slow that I couldn't stand it any longer. It was not Holly's fault but the set up of the show itself.

The Campaign

A spot-on parody of the absurdity in U.S. politics
Although this movie is far from the apex of Will Ferrell's funniest films, it's still quite enjoyable, and it made me laugh out loud on several occasions. But be warned- this movie is extremely over the top when it comes to lewd humor. Do NOT let your young children watch this movie, or you WILL be embarrassed! For those adults who can handle such humor, strap yourselves in for a foul-mouthed ride that will take you through the very slummiest aspects of the campaigning process.

Although the story is, of course, done in parody, and everything (including the raucous dialogue) is embellished and exaggerated upon, what remains true is that the CORE of the election process remains unchanged. The mud slinging, the character assassination, and the win-at-any cost attitude are all put to examination, exposing the absurdities of each of these time honored American "traditions". In the spirit of "The Daily Show", this movie brings very important issues to light by putting them under...

AMERICA, JESUS, FREEDOM
Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) is a congressman who runs unopposed. After he leaves a graphic obscene phone call at a wrong number, he becomes vulnerable. The rich Motch brothers (Koch brothers) decide they can buy this election and own a congressman in the effeminate Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis). The story centers around their over the top, no holds bar campaign against each other.

The film news extras include mostly the MSNBC crowd. The humor is crude and sexual such as when Marty's wife (Sarah Baker) admits "I touch myself to Drew Carey on "The Price is Right." Okay so who doesn't.

It is a satire of the American electorate who relish slogans and sound bites over substance. It makes a statement on how our nation can be bought, but not as good as Steven Colbert. At times the film becomes too over the top and loses sight of the satire.

Parental Guide: F-bombs, sex, brief nudity (Amelia Jackson-Gray)

Disappointly Not Funny
Since seeing the commercial clips of this movie I've wanted to see it and I finally got a chance. I had such high hopes for this movie because I love comedies. Maybe my expectations were too high, but whatever, this movie was not funny. I chuckled maybe once through the entire thing. I also don't know why I assumed from the commercial ads that this was a family-like comedy. It was extremely vulgar and explicit, but I wouldn't have minded that if it had been funny! The funniest part was when the baby was punched and that was one of the things from the commercial they used to hook people into watching this.

It's sad that with Will Ferrell's comedic genius, and the chance to make fun of the political system, that the filmmakers couldn't do better than this. What a huge waste. This movie is not humorous, just based on lame silliness and a bunch of dumb characterization. Even Saturday Night Life is funnier than this and it hasn't been funny since 1993.

I don't blame...

The Young and the Restless 35th Anniversary: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

"A True Collector's Item"
In 2008 CBS television and the Paley Center for TV celebrated the remarkable milestone of the 35th Anniversary of daytime's #1 rated show "The Young and the Restless". Having been at the top of the U.S. Nielsen Ratings list since the middle of 1988 (24 years!!!) is something no other television show has ever done. For every single week no other serial has ever surpassed this remarkable achievement so it's with great fanfare the stars of the series took time to be on a panel to discuss the ups and downs in Genoa City. Among the stars are Jeanne Cooper (the longest-lasting member of the cast since late 1973, Jess Walton, Melody Thomas-Scott, Joshua Murrow, Peter Bergman and Michelle Stafford, most of whom are all Emmy winners.

The cast also takes questions from the audience at the end.

This is a gem to own if your a fan of this fantastic serial.

Basically if you understand my review then you definitely want to check out this video. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then this video is not for you, enough said.

Bones: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

How to Moderate Like An Oaf 101
DVD releases of the Paley Center series of onstage panel discussions have always served as that extra treat, one more outlet to sate the frenzied fan who can't get enough of his or her favorite show. I had a blast watching the cast of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER talk it up at the Paley Center (2008 PaleyFest: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reunion), and so had no qualms about purchasing this one, featuring the cast of BONES. Except that, at the end, I do have one major, er, bone to pick.

The BONES panel discussion, which clocks in at under an hour, takes place on April 9, 2008 during BONES' third season. It features Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin, Eric Millegan, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, series creator Hart Hanson, and executive producer Stephen Nathan. This is quite a coup as this roster makes up the core actors but for T.J. Thyne. The only other person I wished would've been there...

Worst image quality I have ever seen on a DVD!
Having seen tidbits of this panel online I was intrigued and wanted to see the whole thing, upon finding it available for purchase I was beyond thrilled, even though I didn't particularly care for the price tag. The panel didn't disappoint, but I was utterly appalled by the quality of the footage.

It was heavily pixilated and completely awkward to watch - I've seen home videos dating back to the 80's with better quality - so to be expected to pay 20$ for this and get such crap quality in return is utterly appalling to me.

I can only hope the contribution from me and others who have purchased this DVD will go towards updating the Paley Center's camera equipment so that future panels will be filmed on equipment dating from THIS century. Until that happens I will not be purchasing anymore DVDs from them - it's NOT worth the money.

Loved it!
Enjoyed learning more about the genesis of the show and how the actors interact. Too bad TJ wasn't there but the rest of the cast was great.

The Mentalist: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

Definetely worth it!
I was a bit skeptical at first, because usually those interview things are often pretty boring and technical. And at first glance, the product description of only about an hour's worth of video seemed a bit offputting as well. But boy was I proved wrong.

This is a very nice video of a very rare thing: An interview session with a cast that was FUN to watch and not only gave great insight into the background of the show, but also showed the awesome chemistry between the cast members. First you get about half an hour of questions by the host, which are clever and not just the usual run of the mill (particularly watch out for Simon defending himself by saying "Mate, it was the early 90s....!", it's a riot!!LOL). Then the audience gets to ask questions for another roughly 20 minutes, and there are some sweet moments as well.

This is one interview session I will be watching more than once, in fact I've already seen it five times now and it doesn't become boring at...

Worth Watching But Wish There Was More Depth
Here's my suggestion if you're a fan but a bit cheap. Watch it instantly ($1.99) as opposed to buying the disk.

The conversation is enjoyable and well worth watching but hard-core fans will leave unsatisfied. First, the program appears to have been taped after the first season but before the second, so there are a number of sub-plots (Rigsby and Van Pelt's relationship and Lisbon's one-night stand) that had been filmed but very consciously not referred to. There's no discussion of the subtleties of character development, the balance between Patrick's Jane's charm and (sometimes) annoying arrogance nor most of the other story telling features that make the show pretty sophisticated and standing above what it might have been if the writing and character development weren't so advanced. This would have been much better if taped after the second season and even more so after the third. There would be far more to discuss.

The cast, particularly Tunney and Yeoman,...

Expected more
As a big fan of 'The Mentalist' I expected a little more for my money. Listening to the writer and producer talking about the creation of the show and the different characters is interesting, but I felt a lack of in-depth questions, the same old questions that come up in every interview with the actors about the show. In fact the best questions were the ones asked by the audience at the very end (should of had more of them...).
